Usually I only cook on special occassions like the pigfests. More and more frequently I find myself creating something yummy. Please leave me your comments and suggestions. Even your likes and dislikes...
This is really really easy and really satisfying to prepare, cook, sniff and eat.
Ingredients: start out with fresh dough (buy it at supermarkets or make it yourself).
Crush your own fresh garlic, olive oil & salt.
I like it thick, so I don't rollout the dough much.
Take a deep breath - can you smell it?
A word on the pizza stone:
You can be extravagant (and foolish) and buy a $99 pizza stone
or you can be frugal (and smart) and buy a $14 one. -- Both measure around 15 diameter
They also sell some shaped to fit on grills so you can do this outdoor instead of indoor.
My favorite way to cook pizza or bread is on a pizza stone.
You put the stone to preheat in an oven at 450.
Then leave it set it to whatever temperature you need - the stone makes for a moister dough that browns on the bottom as nicely as on the top.
Pizza style garlic bread: italian, Cuban or if you must French bread (not my favorite at all).
Olive oil (the Mediterranean secret to heart health), freshly mashed garlic.
Optional ingredients: pepperoni, sausage and / or tomato sauce.
Place on hot pizza stone and keep an eye on it.
Batidos (also called batidas or smoothies) are my favorite drinks to make.
I typically use fresh tropical fruits when available.
This one is easy to find anywhere: fresh sweet cantaloupe, fat strawberries, milk (evaporada or from the carton), brown sugar crystals aka "turbinada" large crystals of sugar made with 100% sugar cane-( do NOT use brown powdered at all ), do use tons of ice and a blender.
If you try to gulp it and you DON'T get brain freeze you didn't add enough ice.
I also make frozen adult drinks (replacing the milk with spirits).
Whhirrrrrrr..... whoooorrrr
Let it blend at high speed
-- what did you think it was?
